White-throated Bee-eater Merops albicollis

Description: Approximately 20 centimeters in length, with tail streamers extending up to 32 centimeters. It is characterized by black and white stripes on the head, a black stripe band, a golden-yellow neck, a pale green middle part, and blue coloring on parts of the wing, rump, and tail.

Distribution and Status: Fairly common, local migrant and resident in central and southern Sudan. Its range extends northward to areas like Kabushiya, Al-Bajrawiya, and the Red Sea hills along rivers and Wadis. The White-throated Bee-eater appears to migrate north with the onset of the rainy season.

Habitat: Open acacia savannas and woodlands.
